Informational Tips on Fabric Sizes.

Names for cuts of fabric may sound funny to some… But yummy to the fabric loving Quilter.

Yard cut = 36″x width of fabric (usually 42″ some 44″)
Half yard cut = 18″x width of fabric
Quarter yard cut = 9″x width of fabric

Fat quarter = 18″x 21″or 22″
A fat quarter is half of a half yard cut.

Fat quarter bundle is multiple coordinated fat quarters tied together.

Jelly Roll = 2 1/2″ strips width of fabric. (Usually 32 to 42 ct.)

Junior Jelly Roll = 20 ct. 2 1/2″ strips width of fabric.

Honey Bun = 40 ct. 1 1/2″ strips width of fabric.

Charms = 5″ squares found in bundle of 28 to 48 count.

Mini Charms = 2 1/2″ squares usually 42 ct.

Layer Cake = 10″ squares usually 42 ct.

Junior Layer Cake = 20 ct. 10″ squares

Jolly Bar = a 42 ct. fabric roll of 5″x10″ By Moda fabric.

And for the I need the whole bolt quilters.
Bolt of fabric = on average 12 to 18 yards of fabric.

Width of fabric = w.o.f.

A Salvage to salvage cut is from one side to the other side cut of fabric or a w.o.f. cut of fabric.
